Lubrication is the process of reducing friction between two rolling or rubbing surfaces, while this process generates tremendous heat and needs cooling. Water is a natural coolant and lubricant, but it has limited application due to rusting, low boiling, low viscosity. Vegetable oils, non-edible oils have excellent lubrication properties, but very low oxidation stability, rapid thickening and may even give foul odour. At present most of the liquid lubricants used are mineral oils which are having less cooling action.
